A.R. is a tool to help teachers find students reading goal.  A.R. asks a series of questions to answer.  Quizzes are available on textbooks, supplemental materials, magazines, fiction and non-fiction books. The school is doing the play Peter Pan. The play is on April 15th, Tuesday, at 2:00 p.m. and later in the evening at 7:00 p.m. This play is about the Darling family. Wendy the oldest, takes care of her younger brothers John, and Michael and Nana the dog. A young boy comes along named Peter Pan, and his little sidekick Tinker Bell. What happens in Mr. Boyle’s Classroom!!!  Mr. Boyle first assigns the morning workshop then we go to ether library or fine arts. Mrs. Montgomery , the  librarian  at MES has worked for us 7 years and will work  here about 5-6 more years and has lived in Monticello 22 years. What she likes about her job is the kids and watching us learn to read and love books. Outside of school she likes to sew, quilt, read, and try new things in cooking. She did not always want to be a librarian but she was always working in one in collage, and high school. She makes a wonderful difference in our school!

The San Juan School Board met on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Whitehorse High School in Montezuma Creek, UT. The meeting began at 3:00 p.m. and adjourned around 8:30 p.m. The following is an outline of the major points of the meeting: School Reports: Reports were given by principals Boyd Silversmith of Montezuma Creek Elementary, and John Fahey of Whitehorse High School. It was held at the District Office, and began at 3:00 p.m. and ended at 7:00 p.m. Here are a few of the highlights of the meeting: -The plan for future Capital Projects was discussed. On May 14, 2013, the San Juan School District Board of Education approved Dr. Sylvia McMillan as the new principal for Monument Valley High School.  Dr. Douglas E. At the May 14, 2013 San Juan School District Board Meeting, retirees for the 2012-13 school year were recognized, and personally thanked for their many years of service with the district. Each retiree was presented a nice bag with the district logo, and a pot with an artist’s depiction of the geographic area he/she worked in. The district has fourteen retirees this year (11 Certified and 3 Classified), and seven of those were able to attend this meeting. The San Juan School District Spelling Bee was held on Tuesday, February 26th at 10:00 a.m. at San Juan High School. Contestants were sent from five of our schools: Monticello Elementary, Monticello High School, Blanding Elementary, Albert R Lyman Middle School, and Bluff Elementary.
